Hi, my name is Johnathan White

I’m a Trumpet player simply trying to make a career through music. I started playing the Trumpet when I was in 7th grade at the age of 12. Its been a 11 year journey with tons of ups and downs. It wasn't until high school that I started building up confidence and a direction in trumpet playing after I auditioned for a Christmas solo at our high school concert and only lost it to the principal trumpet because of seniority. That set me on a practice montage that propelled me through high school and got me to see music performance with trumpet as a possible career and it has been nothing but fun since. I auditioned for the top group at my school as a freshman and made it! I was in Loara High school’s top wind ensemble playing principal for 3 years. I also auditioned for our districts honor band my junior year where I earned my principal trumpet spot. I played principal on great pieces such as Ives Variations on America, Russian Christmas Music, American Elegy, Danzon No. 2, Maslankas Give us this day, Short Ride in a Fast Machine, and many other stellar wind ensemble standards.

It wasn’t until I began studying with Chad Willis during my stay at Fullerton Community college where I started to get proper trumpet technique, skills, and a routine. This turned me into a well rounded player, specially when combined with the different ensembles that were offered. I was in their pop/commercial group playing second trumpet, lead trumpet in their lab band, second trumpet in their big band, co-principal in the wind ensemble, and co-principal in the brass ensemble.

Currently, I play principal trumpet in a brass quintet called The Fullerton 5 and we play for weddings, holiday events, graduations, we schools and host our own concerts from time to time. I also play principal trumpet with a church orchestra called the praise symphony orchestra!
